The drivetrains of the three machines feature ZF axles. The heavy-duty rear axle features self-adjusting, oil immersed hydraulic inboard brakes, differential lock and final drives. Optional all-wheel drive (AWD) is engaged by a front console panel switch. The system can be engaged on the go, under load in any gear in forward or reverse. The system features outboard planetary gear final drives. The service brakes work with a three-position brake mode switch. The operator can select two-wheel drive and braking, two-wheel drive and all-wheel braking, or all-wheel drive and braking. The AWD and 2WD front axles are pendulum mounted and permanently sealed and lubricated requiring no daily maintenance. The front axle features a double acting steering cylinder with 50[degrees] steering angle for increased maneuverability. Axle oscillation is 11[degrees] in each direction from centerline. A farm equipment show in Bologna, Italy seems an unlikely place for a discussion about sudangrass hay production in California''s Imperial Valley.Nevertheless, Carlo Tonutti, owner of one of Italy''s 1,000 farm tractor and implement manufacturers, is very interested in that market. He is testing his company''s haying equipment there on sudangrass, admittedly one of the toughest forage crops to harvest.Mature sudangrass can take on the rigidity of small trees, and it can be brutal on farm equipment. Nevertheless, that is where Tonutti believes his company has a market niche to fill and he wants to ensure that his equipment is up to the task. That is why he had equipment in the fields last season."Sudangrass really tears up equipment, but that is what we want. We want to learn about that market and what it takes to satisfy sudangrass farmers in the Imperial Valley," said Tonutti. "We think it can be an important market for us, and we want to be ready for that market next year." Though light in weight, Airbor magnetic drill has a powerful 1.6-hp air motor and 1,600-lb magnetic holding strength. With its extra rack, stroke length is extended to 10 1/4 in. Annular cutter capacity is up to 2 1/16 in. diam. Geared chuck adapter converts the unit to a standard drill press. The Slugger Air Force pneumatic drill, at 24 lbs, 6 1/4" high, is useful for confined area drilling. The drill''s features include a permanent magnet that turns on or off by air power, a cutter capacity of up to 1 1/16" diameter x 3/4" depth and the ability to use ShortSlugger cutters and frame cutters. These cutters'' geometry allows the operator to drill multi-layered truck frames in a single pass.
